NISKAYUNA AND SCHENECTADY — There may not be a light dusting of snow on the floor, but a few homes in Niskayuna are decked out for the holidays and also on display this weekend.

The Junior League Holiday Homes House Tour yields this Friday and Saturday, including five homes in Schenectady and Niskayuna. The occasion — part vacation heritage, part vacation inspiration and component fundraiser —  has been conducting approximately every other year since the 1980s, according to occasion co-chairwoman Denise Murphy McGraw.

The Junior League of Schenectady and Saratoga Counties, a community support organization, has worked to increase about  $10,000 in this particular event in years ago.

“One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the plans of the Junior League, such as Operation Back to School,   Discrete Dignity and Kids in the Kitchen,” stated Murphy McGraw.

A variety of homes are on the tour, such as a traditional center Colonial along with a new loft at River House Apartments.

“There are two distinct groups of individuals who move,” Murphy McGraw explained. You will find the individuals who see the function as a way to kick off their holiday time and then there are the design fans  who use it as inspiration.

And there’s tons of inspiration to be obtained in Michael and Leah Olson. Leah, a lawyer-turned-interior-design-influencer, conducts a popular blog on Instagram about her interior design aesthetic: Leah Olson Style ().

Her house on Grand Boulevard, a center hall Colonial with stucco and slate roofing, is superbly curated, with modern rustic components. For your tour, Olson worked with Karen Splendido of Splendid Stems to deck each hall, wall, mantle, etc..

“We’re performing a nostalgic vintage Christmas, Olson explained.

There’ll be a classic untrimmed tree, vintage ceramic lamps  and organic boughs. Components of tartan plaid run across the decorations as well, from a wool throw to a bow or two.

Although it’s the first time the Olsons have completed an official house tour, Leah said it is nothing new.

“In a way, I open my house to individuals daily,” she said.

The house of Grant Jaquith and Rosemarie Perez Jaquith, another center hall Colonial, will probably be full of holiday decoration and history.

“I’ve got a whole lot of history in the house, including old photographs,” explained  Perez Jaquith, the Niskayuna school board president.

Amid the traditional poinsettias, fresh boughs along with garland (performed by Felthousen’s Florist), will soon be some family history that Perez Jaquith said she is eager to share with other people.

“I am happy to encourage the business,” she  said.

Other homes on the tour include Evan Euripidou’s Historic Home of the Friendless, also the House of Frank Gilmore and Mary D’Alessandro Gilmore, along with the  loft apartment decorated by Experience and Spiritual Designs and hosted by Haley Viccaro.
